What kind of waste carrier licence you require will depend on the type of material and waste in which you will be transporting.

 

Lower Tier

The lower tier is free and typically covers businesses which transport waste that they have generated from a job that they have done, such as a builder transporting waste from a site.

You don’t need to renew a lower tier waste carrier licence.

 

Upper Tier

Any other type of waste carrier will need to apply for an upper tier waste carrier licence.

Upper tier waste carrier licences must be renewed every 3 years. To renew your licence, it will cost £105.
